In cities with a Chinatown, weekend mornings bring dim sum carts or order sheets, and lines form early at the most popular spots in Riverton; walk-ins are standard and reservations are uncommon outside large banquet restaurants. Regional labels matter: Cantonese, Sichuan, Hunan, Shanghainese and Taiwanese kitchens cook very differently, so a restaurant's stated region is a better guide to the food than the word "Chinese" alone. Some smaller restaurants in Illinois are BYOB with no corkage fee; call ahead to confirm. A tip of 15-20% is customary for table service but not expected at counter-order takeout. Spice level, MSG and allergen questions are normal to ask before ordering, and most kitchens are happy to leave an ingredient out or tone down the heat if you mention it when ordering rather than after the food arrives.
Hours are published for 1 day a week. The most common schedule is 11 AMβ9:30 PM. It is closed on Monday. Hours in the United States do change around federal holidays and long weekends, so a quick call before a special trip is sensible. The listed phone number is (217) 629-8889. Many businesses also reply to text messages on the same number if it is a cell phone. Its website is newchinarivertonil.com, where you may find menus, price lists or booking options.

Riverton is in Illinois, in the Midwest, where summers are warm, winters are cold and snowy, and most errands are done by car; businesses keep steady year-round hours with the usual holiday changes. US addresses list the street number and name, then the city, state abbreviation and ZIP code, and Riverton follows the same pattern; a suite or apartment number such as Ste 200 refers to a unit inside the building. The food is good, just didn't care for the lo mein, but people were nice and fast.

Little pricey for the ambiance, but the food was really good and ingredients and portions or healthy. I had the house special fried rice it was delicious. Make sure you keep an eye on the time, it was before 3:00 and they charged me dinner price instead of offering the lunch special.

Lived nearby years ago and loved the food. Came back for a visit and still just as great! Same owners. Now easy to order online and pickup in store.

Food has gone down hill everything is too sweet the lo mein is full of onion pits and oil the hot and sour isn't sour and lacks salt. I don't know what happened but the food is trash now. Only took a few bites before the oil got to me

The sweet and sour shrimp was amazing. Only drawback is that if you order plain fried rice there isn't anything in it- no veggies or sprouts. I attribute that to me just ordering wrong but it was a bit disappointing nonetheless.
